Research theme

The Competition theme brings together researchers interested in understanding and functioning of markets and the institutions that have the potential to regulate them. Researchers in this theme have expertise in consumer and business behaviour, competition, innovation and government regulation.

The Competition research theme encompasses a wide range of sectors and topics that exploit different approaches and methodologies in specific projects to understand how markets work. Research activities on this theme at CIRANO have been known for many years for their applied nature and policy orientation. Projects in this research theme often focus on markets in Quebec, but also in Canada and more broadly in North America.
