Biography

A CIRANO Researcher and Fellow since 2008, Michel Cossette is Associate Professor in the Department of Human Resources Management at HEC Montréal. He is also a certified human resources professional (CHRP), an occupational and organizational psychologist.

Holder of a Ph.D. in Occupational and Organizational Psychology from the Université du Québec à Montréal, his researches concentrate on two domains. The first domain aims to understand motivational process behind employees’ emotional labour: impact of organizational (such as HRM practices) and personal factors on employee motivation and service performance strategies; influence on psychological well-being and job attitudes. The second domain concerns the study of employee retention/turnover (internal and external) process (job attitudes, specific reasons to stay and to quit the job, and job search behaviours).

Over the years, he has developed an expertise in dashboards and HR analytics. Since January 2009, he has held teaching positions, first at UQAM in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and at HEC Montréal since June 2010, in the Department of Human Resources Management.
