Several CIRANO Researchers participated in the American Economic Association Annual Meeting

Several CIRANO Researchers participated in the American Economic Association Annual Meeting held between January 3 and 5, 2020 in San Diego. The AEA, in conjunction with 61 associations in related disciplines known as the Allied Social Science Associations (ASSA), holds a three-day meeting each January to present papers on general economics topics. Over 13,450 of the best minds in economics are assembled to network and celebrate new achievements in economic research.

Thierry Warin, Director of the SKEMA Global Lab in Augmented Intelligence and CIRANO Researcher and Fellow, chaired the session "Data Science and AI: The Next Frontier for Evidence-Based Policy-Making". This session brought together in particular Marta Bengoa, Associate Professor of International Economics at the Colin Powell School at City University of New York (CUNY-CCNY) and CIRANO Associated Researcher and Fellow, and Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin, Full Professor at Polytechnique Montréal and CIRANO CEO.

 

Thomas Lemieux and Nicole Fortin, both Professors at the University of British Columbia and Associate Researchers and CIRANO Fellows, spoke in the session "Gendered Effects on Wages, Employment, and Prices".

 

Fabian Lange, Associate Professor at McGill University and CIRANO Researcher and Fellow, spoke in the session "Job Polarization: Evidence and Possible Causes".

 

Dalibor Stevanovic, Associate Professor at the Université du Québec à Montréal and CIRANO Researcher and Fellow, spoke in the session "Machine Learning and High Dimensional Methods".

 

Other CIRANO Researchers were also present, for instance Marie Connolly (Université du Québec à Montréal), Étienne Lalé (Université du Québec à Montréal), Markus Poschke (McGill University).
