Les Risques Biotechnologiques : État de la Question dans l'Industrie Agroalimentaire Canadienne

This document sums up the technological, economical, biological and statutory aspects of products issued from Canadian biotechnology, used in the fields of agribusiness, and commonly called GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms). A first section analyses the different terms (and their nuances) used in this field. A second section studies the expansion of Canadian industries in biotechnology, as well as the added values of the GMO, the characteristics of the expansion of these firms, the market of the GMO, together with the intellectual property prevailing in these industries. A third section on biology explains the stages in manufacturing transgenetic organisms. Another section tackles the uncertainties of GMO manufacture, which accounts for the risks and limits of transgenesis for health, environment and economy. This document concludes with a part on regulation and its underlying principles.
