Congratulations to the winners of the CIRANO Fiscal Policy Challenge

The winners of CIRANO 2020 Fiscal Policy Challenge had the opportunity to attend the closed-door session of the Quebec 2020-2021 budget on March 10, 2020.

 

Aimed at university students in economics, finance, taxation, political science or any other related fields, the CIRANO Fiscal Policy Challenge is a competition whose objective is to find innovative and rigorous solutions to current public policy issues.

 

The 2020 edition of the Challenge focused on labour force challenges.

 

CIRANO is very pleased with the participation of students representing all of our partner universities.

 

The winners were selected by a committee composed of university researchers and representatives of the Ministère des Finances du Québec based on criteria such as the originality and quality of the analysis as well as the use of economic data.

 

The winners of the 2020 Fiscal Policy Challenge share cash grants worth a total of $3,000. They will present the results of their reflection to a team of senior officials from the Ministère des Finances du Québec and will have the opportunity to complete a paid internship at the Ministère des Finances du Québec.

 

In first place, for a $1,500 cash grant:

Grégoire Maillard, HEC Montréal

 

 


In second place, for a $1,000 cash grant:

Félix Bélanger, Université Laval


 

 

In third place, for a $500 cash grant:

Laurent-David Beaulieu, Université du Québec à Chicoutimi
