CIRANO Celebrates Ten Years of Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin’s Leadership

More than 120 people gathered at CIRANO on Thursday, August 27, to mark Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin’s ten years at the helm of the organization.

Partners, researchers, current and former members of the Board of Directors, government representatives, collaborators, colleagues, friends, and family members came together to pay tribute to her career and her contribution to CIRANO’s development.

Ten Years of Development and Outreach

During her tenure, Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin guided CIRANO through a period of growth and contributed to strengthening its position within the research and decision-making ecosystem.

These ten years were marked in particular by the development of collaborations with numerous partners, stronger ties between the academic, government, and business communities, and the growing visibility of CIRANO’s research and activities.

Her leadership also helped shape the organization and bring together a community of researchers, partners, and collaborators around its mission: bringing research closer to decision-makers and contributing to a better understanding of major economic and social issues.

An Evening Reflecting on Ten Years of Leadership

The evening featured several tributes highlighting the different dimensions of Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin’s ten years at the helm of CIRANO.

Current and former members of the Board of Directors, representatives of the Government of Quebec, CIRANO partners, and members of the scientific community shared their memories and perspectives on the organization’s evolution during this period.

Members of the CIRANO team also shared their experiences over the years, before Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin took the floor herself to reflect on her career and the highlights of her tenure.

The evening concluded with a toast in the presence of Pierre-Carl Michaud and Yves Giroux, symbolically marking the passing of the torch and the beginning of a new chapter for CIRANO.

A New Chapter for CIRANO

After ten years at the helm of CIRANO, Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin is passing the torch to Pierre-Carl Michaud, who will take over as Director of CIRANO on September 1, 2026.

This transition marks a new chapter in the organization’s history as it continues its mission of fostering connections between research and decision-making communities.

CIRANO wishes Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin every success in her future endeavours and expresses its appreciation for the ten years she dedicated to the development and outreach of the organization.

A chapter closes at CIRANO, with its sights firmly set on what comes next.
