Commerce de marchandises entre le Canada et l’Union européenne : un état des lieux avant l’AÉCG

Thierry Warin, Associate Professor in the Department of International Business at HEC Montréal and Vice President of the International Strategy and Economics Group at CIRANO, just published in collaboration with Aleksandar Stojkov a book entitled "Commerce de marchandises entre le Canada et l’Union européenne : un état des lieux avant l’AÉCG".

Canada and the European Union (EU) are preparing to ratify a trade agreement that could be described as historic. Canada is the only economy in the world to have privileged access to the first two world economies representing nearly 45% of global GDP: the EU and the United States. The Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) is often defined as a second generation agreement, interested in the establishment of mechanisms for collaboration, rather than a free trade agreement. The Agreement will draw the Canadian and Quebec economies closer to the EU economy. The virtual elimination of tariff barriers and the significant lowering of non-tariff barriers will increase the competitiveness of Canadian companies in Europe.

This book is intended for researchers, managers and policy makers interested in the commercial profile of Canada and Quebec with the EU at the time of the CETA.
