In 2014, the government of Quebec tasked two groups of specialists from various fields to conduct an in-depth review of the role, objectives, and relevance of all fiscal measures and programs aimed at supporting the missions of the Quebec government.
Ten years later, the work of the Commission on Quebec's Taxation and the Commission on the Permanent Review of Programs provides valuable insights to guide decision-making in the current economic, social, and budgetary contexts.
Organized by the Chaire en fiscalité et en finances publiques (CFFP), CIRANO and the Centre sur la productivité et la prospérité – Fondation Walter J. Somers (CPP), a reflection day on taxation and government programs in Quebec will take place on February 26. It will bring together the main architects of these commissions, as well as other academics, analysts, and government experts.
