Thierry Warin, member of the « Innovative Ports in Europe » mission in Belgium and the Netherlands

Thierry Warin, Full Professor at HEC Montréal, Fellow and responsible of the CIRANO Pole on Data Science for Trade and Intermodal Transportation, also known as GVCdtLab, participated to the mission « Innovative Ports in Europe» organized by the Québec Government Office in Brussels (QGOB) and the Ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie (MRIF).

In a context where discussions on customs duties are intensifying, where bilateral trade is gaining ground, and where the CETA (Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement) is opening new opportunities, this mission provided an opportunity to addres the reorganization of supply chains for greater resilience and maritime innovation opportunities, while also highlighting the importance of scientific diplomacy and research partnerships.

Among the key moments:

  • A day at the European Commission, engaging with experts in the fields of mobility, transportation, and maritime spaces.
  • Visits of major European ports such as the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, the Port of Ghent, and the Port of Rotterdam, which are true hubs of innovation and connectivity.
