Two CIRANO Fellows Featured in President Biden's Economic Report

The U.S. Administration's annual report contains references to articles by Catherine Haeck and Philip Merrigan.

The 2023 edition of the President's Economic Report, an annual report of the U.S. Administration, cites research by Catherine Haeck and Philip Merrigan, both ESG-UQAM professors, CIRANO researchers and Fellows, on supporting public child care policy. Produced by the Council of Economic Advisers, this document is an important vehicle for presenting the White House's domestic and international economic policies.

 

« Child Care Policy and the Labor Supply of Mothers with Young Children: A Natural Experiment from Canada », a 2008 article by Pierre Lefebvre and Philip Merrigan in the Journal of Labor Economics is cited in Chapter 4, Investing in Young Children's Care and Education. 

 

« Canadian Evidence on Ten Years of Universal Preschool Policies: The Good and the Bad », a 2015 article by Catherine Haeck, Pierre Lefebvre, and Philip Merrigan in Labour Economics titled "Canadian Evidence on Ten Years of Universal Preschool Policies: The Good and the Bad" is cited twice in Chapter 6 of the report, Supply Challenges in U.S. Labor Markets.
