Workshop: Montreal Applied Microeconomics Research Day

Organized by Fabian Lange (McGill University, CIRANO and CIREQ), the Montreal Applied Microeconomics Research Day brings together researchers from Montreal for presentations of recent research findings in microeconomics. Each year, this workshop helps strengthen the research network in Montreal and its surroundings.

Kristian Behrens

Kristian Behrens is Professor in the Department of Economics at the École des sciences de la gestion of the Université du Québec à Montréal.

Christian Belzil

A CIRANO Associate Researcher and Fellow since 1999, Christian Belzil is Professor at Paris Polytechnic Institute and ENSAE.

Holding a Ph.D. in Economics from Cornell University. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Cornell University. His areas of specialization are labour economics, Economics of Education, Micro-econometrics and structural behavioral economics. He studies the dynamics of schooling decisions, the effect of higher education financial aid, the importance of cognitive and non-cognitive skills on life-cycle outcomes, and unemployment insurance and job search behavior. Most of his recent work uses structural microeconometric models.

Laura Lasio

A CIRANO Researcher and Fellow since 2016, Main Researcher of the theme Competition, Laura Lasio is Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at McGill University.

Holding a Ph.D. in Economics from Toulouse School of Economics, her research interests are empirical industrial organization, regulation and competition policy, health economics, pharmaceutical economics and digital platforms and markets.

Muhammed Farhan Majid

Muhammed Farhan Majid is Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute for Health and Social Policy, McGill University.

Wladimir Zanoni

Wladimir Zanoni is a Researcher in Public Policy at the University of Chicago. His research focuses in understanding how early care and education programs affect the labor supply of low income mothers and the cognitive development of their children.

Zanoni received a B.A. in Economics from Universidad Santa Maria in 1999, and an M.P.P and Ph.D. from the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago in 2007 and 2010 respectively.
