External activity: Election debate - Public health at the heart of the debate

Université de Montréal

Tuesday 13 Sep 2022
From 5PM To 7PM

The School of Public Health of the Université de Montréal (ESPUM) in collaboration with the Association pour la santé publique du Québec (ASPQ), the Centre de recherche en santé publique (CReSP), the Association des spécialistes en médecine préventive du Québec (ASMPQ) and the Centre interuniversitaire de recherche en analyse des organisations (CIRANO) presented on September 13, an electoral debate titled "Public Health at the Heart of the Debate" with four of the main parties in the running and their representatives designated for this exchange within the framework of the October 3, 2022, provincial elections.

The health crisis associated with the VREC-19 pandemic has brought the importance of public health into the public eye, where it had been blurred. Of course, it is used to fight epidemics, as was the case with COVID. However, it is also essential in the fight against social inequalities, for adaptation to climate change, disease surveillance, health services management, prevention and health promotion, and improving the health of populations on a global scale.

These critical issues make public health a major issue in the provincial election in Quebec on October 3, 2022.

The debate was moderated by Roxane Borgès Da Silva, Associate Professor, Director of the Department of Management, Evaluation and Health Policy at the School of Public Health of the Université de Montréal, principal investigator of the Health theme and head of the Pôle sur l'efficience des services et politiques de santé at CIRANO.
