Biography

Jie He is a professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Sherbrooke. She has been working for 15 years in the field of valuation of non-market goods and services to study the economic value of ecological services (St. Lawrence River, Trame Bleue du Grand Montréal; Quebec wetlands), public services (community justice center, interdisciplinary musculoskeletal clinic), the well-being of the Quebec population (evaluation of QALY, the acronym for "Quality Adjusted Life Year") and the social acceptability of mining and energy projects.

She is also very involved in environmental goods and services assessment projects in China, her native country, where her research projects cover the value of water quality, air quality, and waste and wastewater treatment.
