Ari Van Assche to be a visiting scholar at the University of Reading

Ari Van Assche, Full Professor in the Department of International Business at HEC Montréal, CIRANO Researcher and Fellow, has received the Alan Rugman Memorial Visiting Scholar Fellowship, a prestigious research award granted annually by the Henley Business School of the University of Reading, in the United Kingdom.

The fellowship is awarded to scholars whose work is explicitly linked to topics aligned with the academic interests of the late Professor Alan Rugman, from the Henley Business School. Ari Van Assche will be developing joint research with the business school faculty.

Recipients of this distinction, awarded since 2015, are also expected to give at least one seminar, and to spend between 2 and 4 weeks in residence at the University of Reading over an academic year. These conditions may change, however, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ari Van Assche has a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Hawaï at Manoa. He holds a Professorship in Educational Innovation on Economic Diplomacy at HEC Montréal. He is also a Research Fellow with the Institute for Research on Public Policy (IRPP), as well as Deputy Editor of the Journal of International Business Policy. His work mainly concerns the organization of global value chains and their impact on international trade policies.
