CIRANO’s expertise in inter-governmental financial relations was recently used by the World Bank and by the IMF.

In July 2018, Marcelin Joanis, Vice President Research – Government partners at CIRANO and Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematical and Industrial Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal, presented the Canadian fiscal federalism in New Delhi during a workshop organized by the World Bank at the request of the Fifteenth Finance Commission of India to aid in their deliberations.

In October 2018, François Vaillancourt, CIRANO Fellow and Emeritus Professor in the Department of Economics at the Université de Montréal, acted as expert counsel for the IMF to provide advice on financial decentralization for the government of Senegal.
