Jacques Crémer, Professor at the Toulouse School of Economics and CNRS Research Director, was the keynote speaker at the State of the Art Lecture during the Canadian Economics Association Annual Conference. Special session chaired by Marcel Boyer and sponsored by CIRANO, Phelps Centre for the Study of Government and Business and Rotman Institute for International Business as part of the Annual Conference of the Canadian Economics Association.
Mr. Crémer's presentation focused on competition policy in the age of platforms. Jacques Crémer explained the tension that existed between the need for a strong competition policy and the fact that existing theories of how markets work are difficult to apply in the world of platforms. He also presented elements of his recent research on competition "for" the market.
