CIRANO is very pleased to announce the launch of the Fiscal Policy Challenge, 2017-2018 Edition.

This contest aims at finding innovative and rigorous solutions to current public policy issues. The 2017-2018 edition will focus on public spending on education and the recent policy for educational success. The question is: How should investments be made and measured to achieve the objectives set out in the Policy for Educational Success and the achievement of Québec's socio-economic potential?

The competition is open to teams of university students (maximum 4, including 2 at the Bachelor's degree level) in economics, political science, taxation or any other related field, led by a professor from their university.

The winning team:

• will receive a cash award of $5,000;
• will present the results of its work to a team of senior officials from the Ministère des Finances du Québec;
• will be offered a summer internship at the ministère des Finances du Québec in 2018.
