CIRANO is pleased to highlight the appointment of Nicolas Vincent, CIRANO Researcher and Fellow and Lead Researcher for the Business Cycles and Financial Markets theme, as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada. He is scheduled to assume his full-time duties on August 3, 2026.
The Board of Directors of the Bank of Canada announced Nicolas Vincent’s appointment to this position. A member of the Bank’s Governing Council as an external Deputy Governor since 2023, he will now serve in this role on a full-time basis. In this capacity, he will oversee the analysis of developments in the international economy and represent the Bank at the G7 and G20.
At CIRANO, Nicolas Vincent is a Researcher and Fellow, as well as Lead Researcher for the Business Cycles and Financial Markets theme. A Full Professor at HEC Montréal, his research focuses in particular on inflation and price dispersion, firm dynamics, inequality, housing prices, and household financial conditions.
This appointment reflects recognition of his expertise and his contributions to macroeconomic analysis and public policy, in a Canadian and international economic context that continues to evolve.
