A highly successful launch of CIRANO's Data Science and Knowledge Transfer Hub for Intermodal Trade and Transportation in the St. Lawrence-Great Lakes Corridor (SLGL ) on March 21, 2024, following the announcement of $2.6 million in funding from Transport Canada under the National Trade Corridor Fund (NTCF). The launch was attended by our partners CIRRELT, IVADO, HEC Montréal, ESG-UQAM, UQAR and Polytechnique Montréal, as well as the organizations and institutions collaborating on the Carrefour: SODES, Innovation maritime, Ministère des Relations internationales et de la francophonie (MRIF) and Ministère de l'Économie, de l'Innovation et de l'Énergie (MEIE).
Thanks to cutting-edge data science techniques and the creation of a digital twin of the St. Lawrence-Great Lakes Corridor (SLGL), the Carrefour will offer a new perspective on understanding the economic impacts of fragile supply chains. Its aim is to strengthen evidence-based decision-making for trade and intermodal transport in the region. The vision, methodology, concepts and team associated with the implementation of the digital twin are presented in the GVCdtLab showcase site, which hosts our data platform named SLGL dataHub.
This initiative is made possible by the involvement of the researchers on its scientific committee and the partnerships of their respective universities: Thierry Warin (CIRANO, HEC), Martin Trépanier (CIRRELT, Polytechnique Montréal), Julien Martin (CIRANO, ESG-UQAM) and Loubna Benabbou (CIRRELT, UQAR).
We would like to thank all the ecosystem players who took part in the Carrefour's annual colloquium.
