Annie Royer, principal researcher of the Sustainable Development and Agri-Food theme at CIRANO and professor at Laval University, and Ingrid Peignier, Principal Director of Partnerships and Research Valorization at CIRANO, were invited on June 22, 2022 to participate in a strategic reflection session in Quebec City in preparation for the development of the next strategic plan of the Ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation (MAPAQ).

The 2019-2023 Strategic Plan will end on March 31, 2023 and must make way for a new updated plan that will take into account the realities of today and the challenges of tomorrow.  The meeting was held in the company of the Deputy Minister, Bernard Verret, and the Assistant Deputy Ministers as well as several MAPAQ executives.

In this context, Annie Royer presented some perspectives on the theme of sectoral and territorial development and Ingrid Peignier presented a synthesis and a prospective analysis of the issues highlighted in several studies conducted at CIRANO in the food sector. Several CIRANO researchers of the Sustainable Development and Agri-Food theme had previously met in preparation of this event.
