François Vaillancourt receives the Doctor Honoris Causa distinction from the University of Geneva

François Vaillancourt, Emeritus Professor in the Department of Economics at the Université de Montréal and CIRANO Researcher and Fellow since 2004, has been awarded the Doctor Honoris Causa degree at the Dies academicus 2021 of the Université de Genève.

He received this honor for his work in the economics of language and the economic analysis of language policies.

Since 1878, the université de Genève awards the Doctor Honoris Causa distinction in recognition of the excellence and influence of personalities in the main fields of knowledge it covers. The degree is awarded in recognition of an exemplary commitment and career that has made a significant contribution to the advancement of science, culture or social and economic development. The title is also awarded in recognition of an exceptional scientific career or of eminent scientific merit in the fields of research and training at the Université de genève.
