On November 2 and 3, 2017, at the Montréal Palais des congrès, the Université de Montréal and the Fonds de recherche du Québec hosted a Forum on the Socially Responsible Development of Artificial Intelligence.
Marie-Josée Hébert, Vice-Rector of Research, Discovery, Creation and Innovation from the Université de Montréal chaired the event.
Internationally reputed experts, such as Yochaï Benkler from Harvard Law School, Yoshua Bengio from Université de Montréal’s MILA and Hugo Larochelle from Google Brain, gave a conference.
During this Forum, Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin, President and Chief Executive Officer of CIRANO, moderated a panel on Changes in the labor market and the education system with the participation of a CIRANO Fellow, Benoit Dostie (HEC Montréal).
Thierry Warin (HEC Montréal and CIRANO) and William Sanger (Polytechnique Montréal and CIRANO) presented an analysis of unstructured data from Twitter on artificial intelligence. Tweets published on Twitter during the Forum were collected and analyzed on November 2nd and 3rd.
Researchers, experts, industry partners, students, decision-makers, and the public at large, all social actors were invited to take part in this important collective discussion.
