Several CIRANO Researchers participated in the Symposium on Public Finances in Quebec

Several CIRANO Researchers participated in the Symposium on Public Finances in Quebec organized by Luc Godbout, Holder of the Chaire en fiscalité et finances publiques, CIRANO Researcher and Fellow. The Prime Minister of Quebec and the Minister of Finance honoured us with their presence at the opening of the symposium.

In his opening address, Eric Girard, Quebec's Minister of Finance, recalled the call to the academic economists community to propose actions to accelerate the economic recovery, ensure sustainable economic growth, revitalize Quebec's regions and reduce the budget deficit that will result from the COVID-19 pandemic, while maintaining adequate funding for health and education.

CIRANO Researchers have mobilized to respond to this call. The reports are available here.

Henri-Paul Rousseau, CIRANO Invited Fellow, participated in the panel on guidelines for the economic recovery.

He mentioned the publications he has signed at CIRANO on this subject. They are available here.

Marcelin Joanis and Pierre-Carl Michaud, both CIRANO Researchers and Fellows, respectively Main Researchers of the Economic and Fiscal Policy and Demography and Health themes, participated in the panel on the debt issue.
