CIRANO Pole on Data Science for Trade and Intermodal Transportation, also referred to as GVCdtLab, is a data laboratory set up in June 2023 in the context of the challenges facing trade and multimodal transportation systems.
The GVCdtLab website launched in January 2024 is the showcase website for the Pole’s activities. It sets out the vision, methodology, concepts and team dedicated to operationalizing the Pole. It also presents research in progress, and includes a section of publications related to the following four dimensions of analysis: Global Value Chains; Economic Clusters; Economic Complexity; Gravity Model.
Among the activities highlighted on the site are the Digital Twin of trade and transport networks for the SLGL binational region, and the SLGL datahub data and visualization infrastructure on which this digital twin is based. These tools are being developed as part of the project of data science and knowledge transfer hub for trade and intermodal transportation in the St. Lawrence-Great Lakes Corridor funded by Transport Canada's National Trade Corridors Fund program (the “NTCF Project”).
