This will take effect as of June 1, 2021 for a term of 5 years, until May 31, 2026. Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin is Full Professor at Polytechnique Montréal and has been President and CEO of CIRANO since August 29, 2016.
The members of the Board salute the innovations and transformations undertaken over the past four years to consolidate CIRANO's position as a leading inter-university public policy research center in Quebec. They thus renew their confidence in Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin in the pursuit of her actions.
Louise Roy, Chair of the Board of Directors, commented: "Thanks to her leadership and great skills, Nathalie has been able to federate and gather around her leading researchers over the past few years. In addition, she has been able to infuse the entire team with the energy it needed to rise to the challenges of this particularly demanding period."
Marc Sirois, Associate Deputy Minister at the Ministère des Finances du Québec, the organization's main partner, congratulated Nathalie and noted her great ability to lead CIRANO. "I am very pleased that we will be able to continue our very fruitful collaboration and allow decision-makers to benefit from the insight and expertise gathered within CIRANO. In the difficult context of the health crisis, Nathalie was able to mobilize researchers to contribute to the collective reflection," said Marc Sirois.
"I sincerely thank the President and the members of the Board of Directors for their confidence. It is a great honor and pride for me to be able to continue my mandate as CEO at CIRANO with a long-term perspective," said Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin. "I am delighted to see the enthusiasm of the entire CIRANO team that is accompanying me in this mission as well as the involvement and collaboration of all the researchers and fellows who contribute to combining knowledge and decision making for the development of social and economic innovations. In the context of the pandemic, the strength of our network has enabled us to propose the best way forward to be favored in health, education, economy and public finance to respond to the crisis and support economic recovery. I invite you to visit the CIRANO website dedicated to COVID-19, which contains all the contributions."
