Ugo Lachapelle

A CIRANO Researcher and Fellow since 2015, Main Researcher of the theme Territories, Ugo Lachapelle is Professor-Researcher in the Department of Urban and Tourism Studies at the École des sciences de la gestion of the Université du Québec à Montréal. He is also Director of the Centre de recherche sur la ville (CRV) and represents UQAM on the Executive Committee of the Réseau Villes Régions Mondes (VRM) since June 2018. Ugo Lachapelle is a member of the In.Situ Chair which is part of the CRV and he is also collaborating on various other research projects with Priscilla Ananian, Florence Paulhiac, Hien Pham and Georges Tanguay, Professors in the Department of Urban and Tourism Studies at UQAM and members of the CRV and VRM.

Hloding a Ph.D. in Urban Planning from the University of British Columbia, his areas of expertise include: transportation planning and policy; healthy cities, physical activity and active transportation; public transport; travel behaviors and built environment; social and environmental justice.

Jean-Philippe Meloche

A CIRANO Researcher and Fellow since 2015, Main Researcher of the theme Territories, Jean-Philippe Meloche is Associate Professor at the École d'urbanisme et d'architecture de paysage of the Université de Montréal. He is also the Director of the École d'urbanisme et d'architecture de paysage of the Université de Montréal.

He is also Researcher at the Ivanhoe Cambridge Observatory of Urban and Real Estate Development, Member of the Réseau Villes Régions Mondes (VRM) and Member of the Sustainable Mobility Observatory.

Holding a Ph.D. in Geography from the Université de Montréal, he specializes in urban economics, local and regional economic development. He is particularly interested in the real estate market and urban infrastructure. His most recent research focuses on Quebec's local public finances and urban transportation.

Georges A. Tanguay

A CIRANO Researcher and Fellow since 2007, Georges A. Tanguay is Full Professor in the Department of Urban and Tourism Studies at the École des sciences de la gestion of the Université du Québec à Montréal.

Holder of a Ph.D. in Economics from Université Laval, his researches are in the fields of public economics, urban economics and sustainable development.

Georges A. Tanguay was a post-doctoral researcher in the Department of Economics and at the Institute for Canadian studies of McGill University. His researches have been published in renowned journals such as Public Choice, International Tax and Public Finance, Research in Transportation Economics, the Journal of Urban Affairs, Environment and Planning A and Canadian Public Policy.
