3rd GVCdtLAB annual conference

2 days of workshops, panels and working groups

CIRANO

From Wednesday 12 Mar 2025 at 10AM
To Thursday 13 Mar 2025 at 5PM

In this year marked by economic and commercial uncertainty exacerbated by disruptions to global supply chains, protectionist shifts and climate disruption, CIRANO invites its partners and players in transportation and trade in the St. Lawrence - Great Lakes region to attend a two-day forum:

Day 1 | March 12, 2025: Workshop: Data Science at the Heart of the St. Lawrence - Great Lakes Corridor
A full day of knowledge transfer, during which you will learn how to connect to CIRANO's Data Science for Trade and Intermodal Transportation database, the GVCdtLAB. Under the scientific direction of GVCdtLAB's principal researchers, Thierry Warin (HEC Montréal, CIRANO) and Martin Trépanier (Polytechnique Montréal, CIRRELT), we will show you how to use QGIS to map your data, and how to analyze layers of spatial information in finer detail.

Day 2 | March 13, 2025: - 3rd annual GVCdtLAB conference: The St. Lawrence - Great Lakes at the time of CUSMA's Renegotiation
An enriching day during which numerous experts will address concrete and topical international trade issues, punctuated by the announcement by the United States to impose 25% tariffs on Canadian products, thus overturning the discussions surrounding the renegotiation of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA).

What shocks are to be expected, and how should they be assessed? Which industries and investments should be prioritized? What opportunities can the SLGL corridor draw from this situation? Considering these questions, how can data science help us make informed decisions?

To answer this, we invite you to a unique day combining expert panels and collaborative working groups. Bringing together decision-makers, researchers, and multidisciplinary experts from the SLGL region, we will explore concrete solutions based on data science, using GVCdtLAB tools to ground our thinking and turn uncertainty into opportunity, identifying pragmatic and sustainable strategies to overcome the challenges ahead

Join us for two days of work and collaborative effort to shape the future of transport and trade in the SLGL region in the face of these global upheavals.
