Biography

A CIRANO Researcher since 2013, Marina Frangioni is Professor in the School of Business Administration at Université TÉLUQ. She was previously Professor at the Williams School of Business at Bishop's University and Professor at the School of Management at Université de Sherbrooke. She is also Vice President of Research at the Centre international d'innovation et de développement économique (CRIIDE) and affiliated with Mosaic-HEC Montréal.

Holding a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the Université de Sherbrooke, her main research topics are: new forms of entrepreneurship based on the principles of co-innovation and community development; supporting innovation, entrepreneurship and economic development through public policies, focusing on the implementation of collaborative tools and an ecosystem approach; measuring the performance of these new economic development interventions; and knowledge management and production in the development of entrepreneurial projects.

She began her career nearly 20 years ago as a consultant to large companies in the aeronautics sector in France. In 1998, she pursued her career in Quebec, first with the Quebec government on the international scene for the information technology sector, and then in the private sector with the development of Quebec's first industrial cluster: InVivo. In 2002, she continued her career in Toronto, where she created her consulting group and worked as an economic development consultant for several organizations. In 2004, she was recruited by the City of Montreal and was in charge of several special projects, including Montreal Technopole, which aims to develop scientific and technological entrepreneurship in Montreal, and the creation of a new socio-economic development index as part of the Je fais MTL initiative. She will also manage the pipeline file for the City.

She is the recipient of several scholarships and awards of excellence, including the Provigo Excellence Scholarship and the Excellence Scholarships of the Université de Sherbrooke Foundation, and is recognized as a high quality speaker both in Quebec and abroad.
