Biography

A CIRANO Associate Researcher and Fellow since 2003, Pamela B. Peele is Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Public Health and the School of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. She is also Chief Analytics Officer at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Insurance Services Division and UPMC Enterprises and Core Faculty at the Center for Research on Health Care at the UPMC.

Holding a Ph.D. in Economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, her research focuses on work and health with multiple projects and publications on the health care financing and the health of workers.

She has 13 years of direct patient care experience and 12 years of academic research experience

Prior to joining UPMC in 2006, she was the Vice Chair of the Department of Health Policy & Management at the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh.

She was the first person chosen by IBM as an IBM Big Data Hero and was voted the 2014 IT News Men & Women of the Year as a top innovator in health care analytics.

She is listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Women, and Who's Who in Health Sciences, and is an elected member of Delta Omega Honor Society in Public Health.

She has numerous published articles and book chapters.
