Biography

Céline Carpentier has been a CIRANO researcher and Fellow since 2003 and is a full professor at the School of Accounting at Université Laval.
She holds a doctorate in management and finance from the Université Lille-II (France). She holds the titles of Chartered Accountant and Statutory Auditor (France) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). She specializes in corporate finance and small business financing. Much of her research focuses on Canadian issues, mainly small business financing. She has participated in several research projects on the balance between investor protection and small business financing and on public policy. These projects have been funded by SSHRC, the Ministère des Finances du Québec, the Autorité des marchés financiers du Québec, the Ministère du Développement économique, de l'innovation et de l'exportation du Québec and Industry Canada. Ms. Carpentier has published reports and research articles on the subject of initial public offerings, capital pool companies, reverse mergers and periodic equity offerings in Canada and on the TSX Venture Exchange. She has also been interested in the phenomenon of cross-listing and public policies relating to small business financing, including tax incentives such as the Quebec Stock Savings Plan and those for angel investors. She has published articles in several academic journals such as Journal of Business Venturing, Small Business Economics, Venture Capital, Canadian Tax Journal and Canadian Public Policy.
