CIRANO's annual theme will focus on accelerating the transition to a sustainable and innovative biofood sector.

Under the direction of the principal researchers of the «Sustainable Development and Agri-Food» major theme at CIRANO, Sophie Bernard (Polytechnique Montréal, CIRANO), Annie Royer (Université Laval, CIRANO) and Lota Tamini (Université Laval, CIRANO), a major part of this year's research program will focus on this thematic «Accelerate the transition to a sustainable and innovative bio-food sector».

Many CIRANO researchers will be looking at a multitude of topics and exploring different approaches to encourage the transition to a sustainable biofood sector, including raising consumer awareness, evaluating policies and regulations, and developing innovative practices - in particular, the digital transition and the emergence of artificial intelligence in agriculture, which are positioning themselves as real revolutions.

This theme will encourage collaboration with stakeholders from the agricultural sector, the food industry, the financial sector and the government.
