Launch of CIRANO PERSPECTIVES Journal

CIRANO is proud to announce the launch of PERSPECTIVES, CIRANO’s journal for the dissemination and valorization of research.

Written in a format that is accessible to a wider audience, the articles in PERSPECTIVES are intended to increase the visibility of CIRANO's work and the expertise of the CIRANO research community.

Through this dissemination tool, CIRANO seeks to reach the scientific community, the academic community and CIRANO's partners, including government policy makers, as well as, more broadly, the entire Quebec society.

As with all CIRANO publications, the articles are based on a rigorously documented analysis by CIRANO researchers and Fellows.

Carole Vincent, Director of Knowledge Mobilization was appointed Chief Editor of the Journal.

Conference for our partners on behavioral and experimental economics
	As part of the workshop on Behavioral and Experimental Economics for Innovative Policy-Making, CIRANO is organizing a special day for our partners. The objective is to introduce this methodology, its scope and how it allows for a better understanding of the determinants of certain decisions in contexts of risk and uncertainty. Several CIRANO researchers will present their most recent work in behavioural and experimental economics. Read more

Publication of a new CIRANO report on SUV use in Quebec
	Highlights of a new CIRANO report on the analysis of light truck purchase motivations in Quebec were presented at 2 events, one in French at the Maison du développement durable on March 21 and the other in English on March 28. A look back at our conference of the year: Meeting the challenges of supply chains
	A day rich in exchanges organized by CIRANO in collaboration with Transport Canada. Five panels related to the challenges of supply chains followed one another, co-presented by Molivann Panot, CIRANO research professional and Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin, President and CEO of CIRANO. About a hundred people were present throughout the day, which led to very meaningful exchanges between the different actors of the ecosystem. Read more

	Three CIRANO researchers, Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin, Polytechnique Montréal and CIRANO President and CEO, Jean-Philippe Meloche (Université de Montréal) and Thierry Warin (HEC Montréal) participated in the workshop on scientific advice for sustainable cities and communities at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, a great opportunity to promote the CIRANO "Knowledge into action model" as well as the new International Francophone Network in Science Advice. Two CIRANO Fellows Featured in President Biden's Economic Report
	The 2023 edition of the President's Economic Report, an annual report of the U.S. Administration, cites research by Catherine Haeck and Philip Merrigan, both ESG-UQAM professors, CIRANO researchers and Fellows, on supporting public child care policy. Produced by the Council of Economic Advisers, this document is an important vehicle for presenting the White House's domestic and international economic policies. Read more

The Board of Directors of UQAM recommends the appointment of Stéphane Pallage to the position of Rector
	Stéphane Pallage, Associate Researcher and CIRANO Fellow, has been unanimously recommended for the position of Rector of UQAM. The Board of Directors unanimously decided to recommend to the Quebec government that Mr. Pallage be appointed Rector of UQAM for an initial five-year term. Read more

Publication of the book « Les plateformes de travail numériques », collective book under the direction of Mircea Vultur
	Micea Vultur, full professor INRS, CIRANO researcher and Fellow, directed the editing of the collective book « Les plateformes de travail numériques. Polygraphie d’un nouveau modèle organisationnel ». The book launch will take place at the University of Montreal as part of the 90th ACFAS Conference on May 9, 2023. Read more

As part of the workshop on Behavioral and Experimental Economics for Innovative Policy-Making, CIRANO is organizing a special day for our partners. The objective is to introduce this methodology, its scope and how it allows for a better understanding of the determinants of certain decisions in contexts of risk and uncertainty. Several CIRANO researchers will present their most recent work in behavioural and experimental economics. During this activity, different applications in experimental economics will be presented and the first Claude Montmarquette Fellowship will be awarded to the recipient followed by a reception.

During this roundtable, Catherine Haeck, ESG-UQAM Full professor, Fellow and Principal Researcher of the CIRANO Skills theme, Pierre Lefebvre, ESG-UQAM Associate professor and Philip Merrigan, ESG-UQAM professor, CIRANO Researcher and Fellow, will present the the results from their recently published CIRANO study. Marie-Christine Brault, Professor at UQAC and Chair of the Canada Research Chair in Children, Medicine and Society, will enrich the discussions by presenting the main research findings on ADHD. Lionel Page, Professor at Queensland University of Technology and CIRANO Research Associate, has released his book "Optimally Irrational" which highlights the causes of behavioral biases and offers an overview of what behavioral science means for economics. During his visit to Montreal, Lionel Page will present an overview of the topics covered in the book, and the event will end with a cocktail.
