March 19, 2018: Is there an income gap between mothers and childless women in Canada and Quebec?

Marie Connolly, Marie Mélanie Fontaine, and Catherine Haeck presented key findings from their CIRANO report “State of disparities in earnings between parents and women and men without children in Quebec and in the rest of Canada”, published March 19.

• Are there penalties associated with maternity or paternity?
• Does the impact of these penalties vary across different groups of women?
• Is there a correlation between province of residence (Quebec vs. the rest of Canada) and the magnitude of the maternity penalty?

CIRANO present at the unveiling of Quebec’s bio-food policy: Three of the nine consulted experts are fellows from CIRANO

Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin and Ingrid Peignier participated in the unveiling of Quebec’s 2018–2025 bio-food policy at the Quinn farm. CIRANO was present at the three preparatory workshops as well as at the Food Summit organized by MAPAQ. Three CIRANO researchers, JoAnne Labreque, Maurice Doyon, and Patrick Mundler, were among the nine invited experts.

On April 4th, François Vaillancourt, CIRANO Fellow and Professor Emeritus at the Université de Montréal, gave a remote presentation at the Louisiana-Quebec Cooperative Conference. This conference brought together Louisiana and Quebec parliamentarians in New Orleans.
