Marta Bengoa participated in the World Trade Organization Public Forum 2019

 

Marta Bengoa, Associate Professor of International Economics at the Colin Powell School at City University of New York (CUNY-CCNY), CIRANO Associate Researcher and Fellow, participated in the World Trade Organization Public Forum 2019 last October in Geneva, Switzerland.

 

She was on the panel "Young, digital and globally connected: The new face of trading Africa". This panel aimed to give a fresh look at the reality of Africa as a trading continent, with a focus on digital and the role of its young population in changing its dynamics. Marta Bengoa presented new data and discussed on the relevance of current international trade initiatives - the African Continental Free Trade Area, the WTO (including e-commerce), in enabling services trade and jobs for Africa.
